A full life is one of blessing and heartache. My grandmother knew loss from a young age, but this early experience did not limit her ability to love. After marrying, she immersed herself in family life. Her three children Paul, Noreen and James, were just as dedicated and loving with her as she was with them.

My grandmother was singular in her focus in life, she wanted to care for her family, and she did this fully and completely. Her sons becoming parents themselves and her dedicated daughter becoming a life-long companion and soulmate.

Love however, means a knowledge that one day there will be pain of loss and in June of 2004, my grandparents lost their eldest child, my father Paul. This unthinkable grief was compounded by the passing of my Aunt Noreen eleven years later. My grandmother was comforted by her youngest son, my uncle James, who cared for her and my grandfather Mario.

Without immense sadness, we might never recognize the gift of joy, and perhaps that is the only way that a life of blessings and heartache makes sense. My grandmother lived a long life and was able to dedicate herself to that which was most important to her, her family. She is survived by her husband and son, four grandchildren and was able to live long enough to meet her great grandsons Theodore and Charlie.

You are loved and missed. We take comfort in knowing you are reunited with your lost children and await your family to be whole once again.

We love you always,
