Obituary for Silvio Fava

Silvio Luigi Fava, 87, of Woodbridge, Ontario, passed away on January 7th, 2023 after a brief battle with pneumonia.

Silvio was born on May 12, 1935 to Piero and Giuliana Fava in Cordignano, Treviso and spent his formative years in Prodolone where he moved in 1938. Silvio was the second youngest of eight siblings.

Silvio emigrated to Canada in 1956. He loved his new home, but always kept close ties with family and friends back home in Italy. He was the President of the Young Christian Workers Youth Association at St. Thomas Aquinas church. It was at this time that he met and fell in love with Liana. They were married in 1963 and from that point on, they were with each other through all of life's adventures.

Silvio and Liana would go on to have 2 children, Magda and Daniel. Silvio was a wonderful and devoted father, husband, grandfather, friend and mentor. He always taught us to stand tall, be proud, and know ourselves in all situations and supported us all throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of our lives. When Silvio wasn't at work, he could be found working on various projects, volunteering, helping and of course, spending time with those he loved, especially his grandchildren Isabella and Julian.

Silvio was predeceased by his parents, Piero and Giuliana Fava and by his siblings Nazzareno, Carmela, Narciso, Mario and Annamaria . He is survived by his sisters Teresina and Nazzarena; his wife, Liana (Tramontin); his children, Magda (Joe) and Daniel (Hisae); and his grandchildren Isabella and Julian.

Donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Foundation or to Canadian Red Cross. Silvio had been actively involved with the Canadian Red Cross for many years.
