Obituary for Sandra Faranda

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Georgia Faranda (born on July 4, 1974) at Humber River Regional Hospital on July 17, 2020 after a long battle with both Huntington’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Sandra is survived by her loving husband Robert, nephew Jermaine and sister Antoinette. Sandra will be deeply missed, but forever remembered by her mother and father in law Maria and Leonardo, and her brothers/sisters in law Mario, Rosa, Nella, Carmen and Cono. Sandra will be united again for the rest of eternity with her mother Mary Rose, father Anthony, and sister Jacqualina (Jackie).

Sandra lost her mother at a young age due to Huntington’s Disease. As hard as was it was to lose a mother during her teenage years, Sandra had no choice but to continue with her life and to become the strong, beautiful, caring and selfless Woman she ended up being. All the while trying to navigate her own life’s journey, she helped in caring for her two sisters, and was the rock that her father needed while he dealt with the passing of his wife and true love.

Through all the hardship, Sandra attended College, graduated with Honours and ultimately began a career in the legal field where she worked at Harris Sheaffer LLP in North York. After starting her career, her sister Jackie became ill with Huntington’s Disease a short time after giving birth to her nephew Jermaine. With Jackie struggling with her own health issues while trying to raise her son at the same time, Sandra became a second mother to Jermaine and with the help of her husband Robert and father Anthony, raised and cared for him. After both the passing of her father Anthony and sister Jackie, Sandra and Robert continued to embrace Jermaine with unconditional love and support until this day.

Sandra was the definition of a “people person” as she always cared about and put others before herself. Even with her health deteriorating, she always had her mind and heart focused on her husband Robert and nephew Jermaine. Before her illness became part of her life, Sandra lived life to the fullest every single day. Sandra loved spending time with her family and friends, going boating and fishing with her husband, baking (especially her apple pies and chocolate chip cookies), and playing/watching sports (baseball/hockey/cycling). Sandra consistently sought to continue educating herself, loved reading novels, and obtained her Law Clerk certification. Sandra was also a “handywoman” as she always assisted in renovating her home, interior decorating, and repair work side by side with her husband Robert.

Sandra and Robert did everything together, everything for each other and everything because of each other. Their commitment and love for each other never wavered through the thick and thin, sickness or health. They were inseparable and Sandra empowered her husband Robert during her years of illness. Robert would not have been able to care for Sandra, if not for her consistent love, support and devotion. Sandra lived her life for others, even through her own health issues, till her very last day. She was an inspiration for Robert. Her family and friends admired her fortitude and courage to this very day and will eternally.
