Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Pasqualina, on April 28, 2020. She was a kind and devoted wife to the late Giuseppe, beloved Mother to Vince (Mary), Frank (Norma) and Rosemary (Nello). Cherished by her grandchildren Lina (Paul), Claudia, Joseph (Celine), Robert (Leanne), Alexander (Cristina) and great grandchildren Julian, Katia and Matteo. Thank you to all the dedicated caregivers and the amazing staff at Villa Colombo Toronto who helped care for our Mother especially during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Villa Charities and to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

At this time the maximum number of people who can attend a visitation or funeral service in a room at one time is maximum 10 people. This has been mandated by the Government of Ontario. All Funeral Services will be done in private with the immediate family only.

Due to the temporary closure of churches from the Archdiocese of Toronto, a private chapel service will be held with the immediate family members. Following the chapel service, we will be proceeding to the cemetery for a private family entombment where final prayers will take place.

The family would like to thank you for your continued love and support during this difficult time.

To my Nana Pugliese: As soon as I learned of your passing I was flooded with fond memories of our times spent together. You were a huge presence in my childhood and always a source of joy and comfort for me throughout my life.

You were an amazing babysitter because you were constantly cooking up the best food on the stove, had the warmest blankets and made hand-down the best desserts I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. I have you to thank for the countless jars of jam, pizza duce, and tarali(my personal favorite) that put such a smile on my face and so many crumbs on your carpet.

I want you to know that all the pants you hemmed for me and the slippers and blankets you knit are still being put to good use after all these years.

The fondest memories I have of us were the simplest: Holding your shopping cart as we walked to Lady York, sharing beautiful meals and sitting in your backyard surrounded by grapevines, a big cherry tree and Nonno Peppinos famous garden. I hope I helped you out by picking the low lying cherries and collecting the fallen ones for your jam.

Although in recent years we were not able to spend as much time as I would have liked to due to circumstance, I cherish those special moments that we did.

You have experienced and lived through many things in your long life, having been able to watch your 3 children and grandchildren grow and prosper before your eyes.

To the strongest matriarch of the Pugliese family: you are now reunited with our beloved Nonno Peppino.

May you rest in peace and know that you are truly loved, appreciated and sorely missed.

Love eternally,

Your grandson, Joe Pugliese
