Obituary for Michael Oberhammer

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael John Oberhammer on January 24, 2022. Michael will be deeply missed by his wife, Jennifer and sons Liam and Evan, Mother Gertrude, father-in-law Bob, brother Andrew (Katie), brother Stephen, sister-in-law, Michelle (Corey) and brother-in-law, Dean. In addition, he will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Joanna (Brent), Kaela, Matthew, Anthony (Kim), Fritz, Andy, Martha, and Elisabeth. Michael was predeceased by his father, Fritz and his mother-in-law, Elaine.

Michael main passion, other than his loving family, was music. Whether it was writing songs, composing, producing, or just playing for fun, he was never far away from some kind of musical instrument to pick up and play when the mood struck him. His vast collection of guitars always baffled his wife, as he tried to constantly convince her that they each ‘had their own sound’. His passion for music extended to taking old guitars that he found and fixing them up, adding to his collection.

Michael will always be remembered for making people laugh, and he would do absolutely anything to get the laughter going. He had no problem being silly and bringing his friends into some creative process by creating videos, editing photos where he highlighted his originality; all with the goal of making people happy.

He was so very proud of the boys and the men they are growing into. They were truly the lights of his life. Every thought, every breath, and all decisions Michael took were to show his boys how to live an unapologetic and authentic life. As a husband, he loved Jennifer from the moment he saw her. This past October they celebrated 20 years of marriage. To make the anniversary special Michael, gathered close friends and neighbors to recreate a Luau – tiki torchers and all! He will forever be in our hearts.
