My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family of Signora Maria (as I use to call her). Eternal rest grant onto her Oh Lord and may perpetual light shine upon her. May the soul of Signora Maria and the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace. Signora Maria and I go back over 40 years. I have only wonderful memories of her and all the times we spent together. Signora Maria and another lady Signora Anna took me into the Italian choir at St. Matthew's at the age of 9. They would see me singing from my pew since as far back as I can remember. I would see her at church events, choir practice, Holy Thursday overnight visiting various churches in the area to guard Our Lord Jesus' body. Also at St. Matthew's my parents and I would bring her coffee as she guarded the tomb all night. I remember crying when I was very young because I wanted to stay with Signora Maria overnight at St. Matthew's. I was never allowed because I was too young. Although I may have moved and started attending another church with the Usus Antiquior mass, I still show up at St. Matthew's from time to time and sing my heart out with the lovely ladies and Oreste. After mass we always shared a hug and kiss and quick chat. I will miss seeing her as St. Matthew's. She was the heart of the Italian choir. She was such a wealth of information and always a joy to speak with and learn from. God brought his Angel back home. She is at peace with Our Lord, the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the Angels and Saints looking down at us. May that be a comfort for her family. Riposa in pace Signora Maria. Con tanto affetto.
