Obituary for Loreto Cianfarani

Loreto Cianfarani, born on September 9, 1932, in Sora Italy and having recently turned 90 years of age, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday September 17, 2022.

Loreto is survived by his wife Elena and his 2 sons Frank (Tonina) and Mario (Justyna); grandchildren Michael (Julia), Paul (Melissa), Luka, Ludo and Dominik; great grandchildren Alba and Alessio.

Loreto will be remembered and celebrated for his many contributions to his community and most importantly his family. In October 1953 at the age of 21, Loreto left his home in Italy and made the long journey by boat to Canada to build a better life for himself and his future family. Like many immigrants, Loreto’s perseverance, dedication, and work ethic would be the foundation of the life and home he would eventually create. He will be remembered for many things. He loved nothing more than to host and celebrate holidays, life events and get together with family and friends making sure that there was always great food and wine on hand. He took enormous pride in his garden and his “cantina” which was always full of the finest homemade tomato sauce, prosciutto, and wine. But nothing gave him greater joy than his grandchildren and now more recently his great-grandchildren. His family is proud of the battle he fought against cancer as a long-time survivor. He will be sorely missed.

Visitation will take place at DeMarco Funeral Home – Keele Chapel (3725 Keele Street, Toronto, Ontario) on Tuesday September 20, 2022 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-9:00pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Jane Frances Church (2747 Jane Street, Toronto, Ontario) on Wednesday September 21, 2022, at 9:30 am. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery (7300 ON-27, Woodbridge, Ontario)

The family would like to thank Hospice Vaughan for their tireless work and the care he received by the wonderful nurses, doctors, staff, and volunteers. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice Vaughan in memory of Loreto.
