Obituary for Larysa Vronska

Larysa Vronska

It is with a heavy heart and sadness that I have to announce the passing of my beloved Mother Larysa Vronska, maiden name Ignatieva at the age of 97.

My Mother lived a long demanding and fraught life that was also rich in many rewards and personal fulfillments.

She was born in Omsk, Russia in the family of a Teacher and Engineer.
At the age of 5, she lost her mother, who was of German heritage and for whom she was longing for the rest of her life.

When Larysa was 16 her father, Alexandr Ignatiev (Engineering Director of the Syberian Railway System) was exiled for 10 years on political grounds. Becoming an orphan at that age, she had only one option to join the army, where she became a radio operator.
Larysa was at the front lines with the Second Ukrainian Division fighting fascists.
She survived the war with frost bitten legs from carrying her radio pack in subzero temperatures and trauma to her hearing from exploding bombs. My mother was awarded numerous medals, which she cherished proudly.

Her life spanned the better part of a century, from the formative years of the Soviet Union, to the purges and the horrendous catastrophe of the Second World War and State collapse of 1991.

Through it all she maintained her equilibrium and optimism and good nature.

Larysa studied and graduated from three Universities becoming a State Economist. She held senior teaching positions for State Planning and Development at several Universities in the Ukraine.

Because of her position and efforts, she was able to help many families to improve their living conditions by getting new or better places to live.

She spent the last 24 years of her life in Canada where she made a new home, where she did her best to study English.

Her passion was her garden, where her hard work was rewarded with many blooming flowers and a selection of fruits and vegetables.

Larysa devoted her time to her grand daughter Ulyana and her two great grand children, Mika and Asher. The family was able to celebrate together all Birthdays and Holidays of Easter, New Year, Christmas, Thanksgiving.

My mother was always the leader and she gave good example to my daughter and me of being hardworking, honest and an achiever in any project you start. I love my mother and I am very proud of the way she lived her life.

I invite all those who wish to pay their respect to attend the Funeral Home on Monday, January 17 between the hours of 11am and 1:30pm
