It is with great sadness that the family of Julieta “Jay” Inocente Bacchus, aged 79, announce her passing. Julieta was born on Sunday, February 23, 1941 in Baybay, Leyte, Philippines and died peacefully in her home in North York on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 3:43pm.

Julieta raised three sons, Jojo, Jerry and James Bangay, and her only daughter, Janette Bangay. Julieta was a pure and kind soul. She worked for many years as a midwife in her hometown, and around the age of 40, spent her time as a caregiver in Hong Kong where she learned a bit of Mandarin. Her employer was kind enough to help her travel to Canada to continue her work as a caregiver. She then found work at a Home Depot for a few years before taking an early retirement at the age of 55. She spent a part of her retirement travelling around the world but mainly focused on exploring her home country. She moved to Florida for about 4 years and then found herself settled in Canada.

In Canada, she continued work at the same Home Depot she had started in before retiring once more. In her spare time she was always singing, dancing, and bonding with friends and family whom she loved dearly. At home, there would always be a gameshow or action movie playing on the TV.

She is now reunited with her loving parents, Matutina and Juanito, and siblings, Henry, Caesar, and Nenita in Heaven. Julieta lived an immensely full life and touched the hearts of every individual she encountered, whether they were close family or a complete stranger. She will be remembered and loved dearly as a friend, a sister, a daughter, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother, forever and always.

The First Visitation will take place at DeMarco Funeral Home (3725 Keele Street) on Sunday, November 15th, 2020 from 2:00pm - 9:00pm. A mass will be held at St. Wilfrid’s Roman Catholic Church (1675 Finch Ave. W) on Monday, November 16th, 2020 at 9:30am with an Interment to follow at PineRidge Memorial Gardens (541 Taunton Rd. W).

Now that York Region and Toronto have moved to a “Red Zone”, public visitations will allow a maximum of 25 people in attendance per visitation room. All attendees must be scheduled by appointment only. Scheduling will be arranged through the immediate family. Unfortunately, cycling of guests, and in and out privileges are not allowed.

We would kindly remind all guests who are coming to pay their respects , to always remember to practice physical distancing and to avoid all physical contact.

Please note that it is now mandatory by the Government of Ontario that all family and friends attending any type of funeral service, must be wearing a facial covering.

On the day of the funeral, attendees must be scheduled. We would request that only the most immediate family members join us at the Funeral Home and that others join us at the church.

As we continue to pray for an end to this horrible virus, the Bacchus Family would like to thank you for your support during their time of sorrow.

Our sincerest condolences John and Amanda, on the passing of your grandmother and the great grandmother of your three children. She was a beautiful soul, who had an amazing smile and I thoroughly loved talking to her and your Papa when we were together. When she looked at you or held the kids, she beamed! Just know she will always be with you and watching over you. We love you always son!!! And condolences to your entire family.
Love always
