Obituary for Giovanni Lariccia

Giovanni Lariccia followed God and his angels on Thursday, April 16, 2020, from Humber River Hospital, Toronto, Ontario at the age of 84. He was surrounded by his wife and children when he took his last breath after receiving his final blessing. Giovanni was born on March 28, 1936, in the town of Matrice, Campobasso Italy. Beloved husband of Rosa Lariccia (Spina) for 55 years. Dear father of Marco and Sonia Perisic (Doug). Loving grandfather of Mya and Michael.

Giovanni is predeceased by his parents Luigi and Saverina Lariccia and in-laws Antonio and Teresa Spina. Dear brother of Rosina Ratino (Salvatore; predeceased), predeceased by Nicola (Chiara), predeceased by Salvatore, Angelina Nori (Angelo; predeceased), Salvatore (Teresa), Maria Fama (Nino), and Antonio. Brother-in-law of Maria Siinardi (Mario; predeceased), Giovanna Muscatello (Giuseppe; predeceased), Franca Paniconi (Fiore), and Marta Sbrocchi (Giuseppe). He will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Giovanni died a strong man. Anyone who shook his hand or felt his pinches on their cheeks knew this. Strong physically, strong in his faith, and strong in spirit but oh so gentle in the love he had for all his family and friends. He will be remembered as a sharp dressed man, his hair meticulously combed, a gardener, a man who loved to dance and sing, a hard worker, a provider, a hairdresser, a real estate agent, a love for cars, drives to Welland or weekends at the cottage, and vacationing down south with family and friends. He was a talker and loved sharing a meal, glass of wine or two or coffee with you even if you didn’t want it he would find a way to convince you to have a sip or a fork full. He was humble, supportive and a mentor whose values and spirit will live within us.

Visitations will take place at the DeMarco Funeral Home (3725 Keele Street, Toronto, Ontario (416-636-7027) on Monday, April 20, 2020, from 8 am - 10 am. A maximum of 4 visitors will be allowed in on rotation. Social distancing will remain in place while inside the funeral home. A private chapel service will be held with the immediate family members. A procession from the DeMarco Funeral Home to the Lariccia residence and then to Westminister Cemetery (Finch and Bathurst).
