I’m really glad that I got to know Francis and these past few years were the very best of our friendship. He was my confidant and an abode of solace, one with whom I could share my struggles and joys. He created a very safe atmosphere for very deeply personal discussions of any kind and was always encouraging and very open. He never made it seem like he had his life all together (especially in the academic arena). Instead, he was very willing to share his life with me and walk together through ups and downs. He was like an older brother to me, one who still made the gap in our years seem non-existent. We related at the level of equals and I really admired his openness. I will forever miss him, and I realize I’ve lost a once-in-a-lifetime friend who cannot be replaced in his very essence and meaning to me. Rest well brother, for I am encouraged knowing that I’ll meet you again someday! I pray that the God of all comfort will bring comfort even to your family in this time.

Never have I known such an humble and sincere person. I met Francis during graduate school at York University and every time I walked by him on campus or in the office he would always stop to say hello. I truly miss the great conversations we had about our research, he was such a bright and intelligent person. I will truly miss you Francis, but I know now you are in a better place. Rest easy my friend and my condolences to the family.

Whatever happens, I always keep remembering and talking about you. You were a legend. I promise to work hard to announce your name to the world. Your faith and work ethic must be taught to the world. I am happy that I could learn more about you and your level of commitment during the past year. Although I cannot still believe that I cannot send you any more voice messages, but hey bto, see you soon :) Glad that I had a chance to work close to you for two years. I hope God give your amazing family and friends enough patience be away from you for now. You are in our heart tho.

I taught Francis for one of his graduate courses at Lassonde. The classroom was booked on the far side of campus and I had the pleasure of speaking with Francis on our walks to and from class. He was always kind and thoughtful. In class his work was exceptional - his passion and level of details in his presentations left an impression on me - he was an A+ student in my class. He had a very bright future. My deepest sympathies and condolences for the family of Francis. - Paul
