Obituary for Felice Galati

Felice Galati

December 22, 1931 - May 8, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved father, Felice Galati, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024 at the age of 92. After sharing a life and family with his wife, Giovanna, of 64 years, they will now continue their journey together in eternal life with their passing just days apart. Felice is survived by his children Greg, Pino (Giovanna) and Mario (Roberta) and his beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Adam, Michael, and Matthew.

The youngest of eight siblings, Felice has gone to rest with his brothers and sisters Gregorio (Domenica), Catarina (Tommasi), Tommaso (Victoria), Rosa, Onofrio (Marianna), Nicola (Maria Consiglia), and Matteo (Chiara). He is survived by his extensive family of nieces and nephews whom he adored and who, in turn, adored him. He was lovingly referred to as Uncle Phil, Zio Felice, Phil, Felice, Pa and Nonno.

Born in San Nicola da Crissa, Catanzaro, Italy, Felice was married to Giovanna Galloro on March 6, 1960. Settling originally in downtown Toronto, they later moved to North York where Felice maintained a close relationship with his siblings and their families who resided in close proximity to each other. Although Felice had no formal education, he worked hard to support his family. He attended church on a weekly basis for as long as he was physically able. He preferred walking or using public transit in place of driving. He possessed a kind heart, was generous and giving.

He is remembered by all who knew him for his wit and sense of humour. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, and took great pride and pleasure in salami/cappicollo making, his vegetable garden, and annual jarring of tomato sauce. He was known for his homemade bread, zeppole and pizza, which he shared with all. His five grandchildren were his pleasure, never missing the opportunity to speak to them on his nightly calls.

Felice will be missed beyond measure by everyone who knew him.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude for all the support we have received during our time of sorrow.

If so desired in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Alzheimer Society of Canada on behalf of the Galati Family by clicking the links at the bottom of the obituary page.
