Obituary for Edith Phillips
Edie Phillips passed away on May 21st in Toronto at the age of 93 of advanced Alzheimer's and pneumonia. Her children, Cathy, Margy and David, were by her side.
Edie taught at Severn Avenue Public School and in retirement enjoyed meeting former pupils and the next generations of kindergarten children. She had a wide circle of friends, including fellow teachers and travel enthusiasts. Edie had very fond memories of neighbours, July 1st barbecues and New Year Eve parties. She was an enthusiastic resident of Unitarian House, and a committed member of All Saints' Westboro.
She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, friend Joe Mergl, and is survived by her children, their spouses Bill, Ian and Danielle, and granddaughters, Annie and Linda.
For those who would like to come and celebrate the life of our loving Edith, the Funeral Service will be held at Downsview United Church (2822 Keele Street, Toronto, Ontario) on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. Cremation to follow.
