Dennis Herbert Walters (1940-2021), passed away on February 28, after a courageous battle
with cancer. He is survived by his three children Ian (Julie), Lesley- Ann (Mark), Andrew
(Stacey), his four grandchildren, his brother Roger (Pam), sister-in-law Hilary (Barclay), nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife Yvonne, his sister Winsome
and brother-in-law Carleton, and his parents Herbert and Pearl.
Dennis was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. He attended Jamaica College where he
made many lifelong friends. Later, he met and married his wife of 46 years, Yvonne. Together
they lovingly raised their three children in Kingston, Jamaica and Toronto’s Downsview
neighbourhood.
Dennis was well known for his warmth, kindness, love for his family, unending generosity,
passion for art and landscape paintings, career in computers and his devotion to the Toronto
Blue Jays. Other than his family, one of his proudest achievements was the pioneering work he
did in the development of medical education of pharmaceutical representatives in Jamaica.
Dennis was blessed to return home to Jamaica in his final years and spend time with his family
and friends there. He will forever live on in our hearts and the hearts of the many lives he
touched. Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life will be held later this year, with details to be
announced. We would like to thank the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their
devoted care and companionship during his time there, as well as Humber River Hospital in
Toronto. We would like to especially thank his niece, Kim Mair, for her loving care and support in
Jamaica, and Hilary Varlack. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jamaica College or
the Kiwanis.
